About the team
Join our Waste Partnerships team within the Chief Procurement Office, part of the Waste and Resource Recovery branch. We work collaboratively to deliver high-performing, customer-focused services that enhance the Gold Coast way of life.
About the role
The Commercial Management Business Partner plays a critical role in ensuring the effective commercial and contract management of significant City agreements. Working in close partnership with the Waste and Resource Recovery team, this role provides strategic contract oversight, commercial analysis, and governance to maximise service performance and deliver value for money for the City.
This position is responsible for supporting project and program outcomes, and leading complex contract management activities, providing expert commercial advice, and supporting strong governance and benefits realisation across high-value and high-risk contracts.

We’re seeking a commercially astute professional who brings both strategic thinking and practical contract management expertise. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
• Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other relevant postgraduate qualification (desirable).
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret and manage complex contractual arrangements.
• Proven experience in contract management, governance and negotiation within large or complex organisations.
• Highly developed analytical and financial modelling skills.
• Sound knowledge of contract legislation, compliance and risk management principles.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and provide trusted advice at senior levels.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise commercial documentation.
• Experience with project and program management, including transition and service transformation and management during change.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering value for money and continuous improvement.
• Contract Management experience, supporting project and program management, including contractual and service transformation requirements.
