  About the team

You’ll join the Chief Financial Office within Business Services, working in a shared services environment that supports diverse departments across the City. The team is customer focused, commercially minded, and committed to building strong, sustainable financial management practices.

About the role 

As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a critical role in strengthening the City’s financial environment. You will provide high quality financial modelling, analysis and strategic advice that directly influences departmental decision making. Working with a high degree of independence, you will partner closely with leaders to deliver budgets, forecasts and reporting, ensure compliance, and drive improved commercial and business outcomes.
A key component of this role is responsibility for the preparation of statutory and non statutory financial statements for the City’s Commercialised Business Units, including Water & Sewerage, Waste Management and Tourist Parks. Demonstrated experience in financial statement preparation is essential, and experience in local government, utilities or similarly complex, regulated environments will be highly regarded.
This role also leads and develops a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative, high performance culture.

The scale of this role is significant. You will operate in a complex, high impact environment, supporting:
•    An FY26 operating budget of $809 million
•    An FY26 capital program of $938 million
•    Monthly service delivery activity exceeding $900 million
•    Employees approx. 2,050
•    Financial partnerships across 11 General Managers and 31 Managers

We’re looking for people who have: 

• Degree qualifications in Finance or equivalent experience
• CA/CPA (or equivalent) accreditation (desirable)
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Proven ability to partner with stakeholders and influence decisions
• Experience in financial management, budgeting and compliance
• The capability to lead, mentor and develop teams
