About the team
Our team is responsible for managing and renewing garden beds, overseeing the city’s tree estate, and delivering proactive asset management to ensure our green spaces remain healthy, safe, and sustainable. We focus on maintaining high-quality landscapes and urban greenery that enhance community wellbeing and support a resilient environment.
About the role
Our City contains more than 240 hectares of landscaping, and 3,000 hectares of turf located in open spaces, community facilities and road reserves.
Reporting to the Senior Parks Asset Lead, you will be collaborating with City staff, Councillors and residents as well as external agencies and contractors to ensure the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the City’s gardens and turf.
This position is primarily responsible for the asset management of softscape across the City, from inspections and maintenance programming, to managing small to large projects, and associated budgets. You will be a champion for maximizing value and delivering our communities expectations and aspirations.
We’re looking for people who have:
- Diploma in Horticulture or Project Management or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Substantial municipal experience, expertise, and competence relating to park operations
- C Class Drivers Licence (Mandatory)
- General Construction Induction Card (White)
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills ensuring consistency and clarity of advice
- Highly developed analytical, problem solving and investigative skills to provide sound advice and options and recommendation
- Ability to function autonomously, as well as part of a high performing team
- Proven time management, project management and organisational skills
- A demonstrated commitment to safety
- Sound level skills in computer systems including Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook and the ability to quickly adapt to software applications used by the City
