About the team
Open Space Maintenance’s role is to provide maintenance services to ensure that parks and recreational facilities are maintained to a high standard and meet agreed levels of service with the Asset Custodians via Partnering Agreements. These maintenance operations are achieved through Area Coordinators, including the planning and implementation of maintenance programs for streetscapes, parklands, sporting fields, and roadsides. We also provide professional advice to various customers on the construction and maintenance of park infrastructure, open space areas and roadsides.
About the role
Based at the Tugun Depot, you will work as part of a team responsible for maintaining and enhancing parks, landscaped and recreational spaces within the City’s open space regions and road network.
- Planting, pruning, mulching, hedging, removing green waste, spraying herbicides/weed removal and operating equipment such as leaf blowers, chainsaws, and pole saws.
- Demonstrate behaviours that contribute to a positive and successful team.
- Follow established work practices and consistently deliver high quality work.
The successful applicants will be appointed at the appropriate level based on qualifications, skills and experience between Level 2 and Level 7 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award - Operational.
We’re looking for people who have:
- Cert II in Horticulture / Conservation & Landcare Management / Arboriculture or related discipline, OR a minimum of 1 year industry experience
- C Class Drivers Licence (Mandatory) - HR Class Drivers Licence is highly regarded
- General Construction Induction White Card (Mandatory)
- Be a team player with strong communication skills
- A high level of motivation and initiative, with the ability to work unsupervised
- The ability to work productively in a team environment and foster good relationships with other team members
- Sound physical health to satisfactorily perform the physically demanding duties of the position
