About the team
The Transport Maintenance Services section plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the city's infrastructure, ensuring safe, functional, and sustainable public assets. Our team provides comprehensive maintenance services for meter maintenance, roads, traffic lines and signs, stormwater drainage systems, bridges, beaches, footpaths and waterways.
Our Roads and Drainage Maintenance team are establishing a talent pool for Maintenance Workers (Roads and Drainage) from entry level to qualified and experienced positions for various opportunities on the Gold Coast, including fixed term backfills and permanent vacancies.
About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking scheduled and reactive maintenance, capital projects and ongoing improvements on our roads, footpaths, and drainage network across the city.
As part of the team, you will also be required to:
- Perform skilled and specialist tasks associated with the maintenance of Council's roads, footpath and drainage network.
- Operate minor equipment and machinery associated with various works tasks.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Complete various organisational forms.
- Control public at worksites.
- Manage work orders in SAP via a mobile device (iPad).
We’re looking for people who have:
- MR Class Drivers Licence (Mandatory)
- General Construction Induction Card (White) (Mandatory)
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- Demonstrated ability to interact with others in a manner conducive to creating a cooperative team environment
- Sound physical health to enable you to satisfactorily perform the physically demanding duties of this position
- Effective numeracy and literacy skills commensurate with the requirements of the position
- Experience in maintenance and/or construction operations
