This isn’t just a mechanical apprenticeship, it’s a chance to help build the inner workings of a world-class city. As an apprentice Fitter and Turner, you’ll learn how to craft, shape and repair the mechanical components that keep our operations moving. From precision fabrication to real-world maintenance on essential machinery. Alongside experience mentors, you’ll gain hands-on experience on meaningful projects and contribute to the systems that keep our community thriving. Start your journey with our exclusive 12-month immersive trainee and apprentice program then a further 36-month apprenticeship designed to unlock your potential (total 48 months) This will be your foundation as we continue to support you in achieving your qualification and empower you to reach your full potential.  

 

This training is proudly funded by the Queensland Government through its Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.

In the role of Apprentice Fitter and Turner, you will form part of a team who maintain, repair and improve the City. From the nuts and bolts in a playground all the way through to essential machinery you'll be part of ensuring the City of Gold Coast runs smoothly and safely.  

  • Build your skills in fabrication and fitting, using workshop tools to meet planned maintenance and repair schedules
  • Contribute to the performance and presentation of our city’s fleet, always aiming for high standards and quality results
  • Develop your communication and problem-solving skills as you help diagnose issues and find solutions together
  • Follow safety standards and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace
  • Participate actively in Toolbox meetings and other team activities
  • Carry out all required business processes accurately and on time, including inspections and workshop tasks. 

What are we looking for from you

  • A self-starter eager to learn about arboriculturist equipment, machinery, and processes
  • Shows respect for their team, their tools and the community they serve
  • Good communicators with basic language, literacy, numeracy and technology skills with the ability to effectively communicate, understand and follow instructions in a high-risk environment
  • Successful completion of Year 12
  • Drivers licence (desirable).

Applicants must have full working rights in Australia for the duration of the qualification and be able to work full-time.
