Start your journey with our exclusive 12-month immersive trainee and apprentice program then a further 36-month apprenticeship designed to unlock your potential (total 48 months) This will be your foundation as we continue to support you in achieving your qualification and empower you to reach your full potential.  

 

This training is proudly funded by the Queensland Government through its Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.

In the role of Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Apprentice, you will form part of a team that services, repairs and maintains a wide range of heavy vehicles, plant and equipment that deliver essential services and emergency response. Under the guidance of experienced tradespeople, you’ll build solid trade knowledge, develop real mechanical capability and contribute to our operations safely and efficiently. We need people who care about community, are willing to work hard and are in it for the long-term.
 

  • Assist and perform in the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles, plant, and equipment
  • Learn to diagnose and solve problems as part of a team, then perform a wide range of diagnostics and improvements to heavy machinery
  • Develop technical and communication skills in a real-world workshop
  • Follow safety standards and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace
  • Take pride in your work and strive for excellence every day
  • Follow designated work practices and perform a high standard of work
  • Actively participate in Toolbox meetings.

What are we looking for from you

  • A self-starter eager to learn about heavy vehicles, equipment, machinery, and processes
  • Shows respect for their team, their tools and the community they serve
  • Good communicators with basic language, literacy, numeracy and technology skills with the ability to effectively communicate, understand and follow instructions in a high-risk environment
  • Successful completion of Year 12 (or equivalent)
  • Drivers licence (desirable).
